🪔 Diwali gifts for babies and kids, by age

Diwali 2026 falls on Sunday 8 November (Dhanteras is Friday 6 November, Bhai Dooj is Tuesday 10 November). Toys and clothes bought for a baby in a hurry often sit unused, so this list sticks to things a child of that age actually plays with, wears or uses every day. We don't print prices here because they change daily in the festive sales; the button shows today's price on Amazon.

A calmer Diwali with a baby

  • Keep diyas, candles and matchboxes well out of reach of crawlers and toddlers, and never leave them lit in a room where the baby sleeps.
  • Cracker noise and smoke unsettle most babies. Close windows during the loudest hours and keep the baby in the quietest room.
  • Dress the baby in cotton for the puja and keep a plain change of clothes ready; festive outfits come off within the hour.
  • Sweets and dry fruits are choking hazards under 4. Keep the serving plates up high.

Questions parents ask

When is Diwali in 2026?

Diwali (Lakshmi Puja) is on Sunday 8 November 2026. Dhanteras is on Friday 6 November, Choti Diwali on Saturday 7 November, Govardhan Puja on Monday 9 November and Bhai Dooj on Tuesday 10 November.

What is a good Diwali gift for a newborn?

Something the parents will use daily: a muslin swaddle set, a hooded towel, a night lamp or a simple cloth book. Newborns don't play with toys yet, so skip anything with small parts or batteries.

Why are there no prices on this page?

Festive-sale prices change every few hours. Rather than show a number that is wrong by the time you read it, each button opens today's price on Amazon.in.
